Artist and surface pattern designer

I’m Cat Doxford. This is my story.
Before starting my own practice, I spent a decade across graphic and UI design, marketing, and creative leadership. I loved it, but somewhere along the way I realized I had been building other people's visions for so long that I had lost track of my own. I had been creating art for a few years, but never felt connected enough to it to share it in a meaningful way.
In 2025, I decided to change that. I wanted to see how life could be if I cut out external noise, found my natural rhythm, and truly listened to myself — and only myself — for a while.
I began integrating purposeful activities into my day-to-day routine like sound therapy, breathwork, writing, spending more time outdoors, swapping takeout for home-cooked meals and trips to the farmers market on Sunday mornings — the kind of changes that sound simple until you realize how much they add up. I tried out new hobbies like singing lessons and working with stained glass, and noticed that the more I took care of myself, the more I started to trust what I actually wanted. What I wanted was to make things that embodied the way I was feeling, with people who were aligned with my vision. I was feeling brand new, and somehow more like myself than I ever had before.
With that feeling, I booked a yoga retreat in Puerto Vallarta — something I had always wanted to do, but never made space for — and handed in my notice. When I came back, I found my creativity flowing in a completely new way. I finally wanted to share the art I was creating. The evolution of my surface pattern design style followed naturally — abstract work, rooted in feeling and storytelling. Treating myself well turned out to be my muse, and that feeling is what this practice is built on.
What I believe in
Thoughtful design is good for business, and good for the soul. If we slow down, make things well, and treat people kindly, the world will still spin — and we’ll feel great about it.

If my name is on it, I want to be proud of it.
Everything that enters and leaves my studio is considered fully — from first conversations to final products. This is why the brands I work with are chosen as carefully as my designs.
CONNECTION
Real relationships make better work.
I care about the brands I work with, the people behind the brands, and the consumers who interact with their products. That care shows up in everything.
GROWTH
Growth keeps things interesting.
Every project is a chance to move something forward — creatively, personally, or professionally. Pushing a little further has a way of revealing what's actually possible, for both of us.
RESPECT
Valuing others is its own reward.
The best work comes from relationships where everyone feels valued. When the people around you thrive, so does the work. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
